When to Send Wedding Invitations in the Philippines: A Timeline
Friday, August 21, 2026
Quick answer
Send wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding if a save the date has already gone out, and 10 to 12 weeks before if it has not or guests must travel. Set the reply-by date 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding, and count back from your caterer's final-count date.
The date that decides your schedule is not on any invitation timeline. It is your caterer's final-count date, because everything else counts back from it. The table below gives the published ranges. The rest of the page turns them into a calendar and adds the Philippine details that move it.

When to send, by situation
The rows come from Bliss & Bone, a stationer, unless marked as our advice.
| Your situation | Send the invitation | Reply-by date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Save the date already sent | 6 to 8 weeks before | 3 to 4 weeks before | Bliss & Bone |
| No save the date, local list only | 10 weeks before | 3 to 4 weeks before | Bliss & Bone |
| No save the date, anyone travelling | 12 weeks before, as a floor | 3 to 4 weeks before | Bliss & Bone |
| Guests from out of town or abroad | 10 to 12 weeks before | 3 to 4 weeks; 4 weeks gives more buffer for larger weddings or guest lists spread across multiple time zones | Bliss & Bone |
| Near a major holiday or peak travel weekend | 10 to 12 weeks before | 3 to 4 weeks before | Bliss & Bone |
| Destination wedding | 10 to 12 weeks before | 5 to 6 weeks before | Bliss & Bone |
| Wedding under six weeks away | Today | 7 to 10 days before | Our advice |
Save the dates go earlier: 6 to 8 months ahead, or 8 to 12 months for destination weddings, per Bliss & Bone's save the date timing. Our save the date wording guide covers what to put on one.
Bliss & Bone also says sending more than 4 months ahead for a local wedding is generally too early, because guests misplace invitations and details change.
Where the published advice disagrees
| Source | Invitations | Reply-by date |
|---|---|---|
| Bliss & Bone | 6 to 8 weeks, or 10 to 12 for travel and holidays | 3 to 4 weeks before |
| Brideandbreakfast.ph | At least six to eight weeks, or about three months if guests need time to arrange travel | First deadline at least four weeks before, final at least two weeks before |
The two sources agree on the basics and differ on travel time. Our advice is to choose by guest, not by source. A relative in the same city needs the 6 to 8 weeks. Anyone who must book a flight, ferry or leave needs the date months earlier, so send that group a save the date and the invitation at 10 to 12 weeks.
Count back from your caterer's date
Your printed reply-by date is a nudge. The caterer's final-count date is a contract term. Published figures for it run from five working days at one US caterer to two to four weeks, so read your own contract. Our RSVP follow-up guide covers the chase between the two dates.
Here is the calendar for a wedding on Saturday, January 23, 2027, with a caterer who wants the number two weeks ahead. The dates are our worked example.
| Step | Date | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Order printing, if any | Aug 23 to Sep 23, 2026 | 4 to 5 months before (Bliss & Bone) |
| Send the invitation | Sat, Nov 28, 2026 | 8 weeks before |
| Printed reply-by date | Sat, Dec 26, 2026 | 4 weeks before |
| Final follow-ups close | Sat, Jan 2, 2027 | A week of buffer, our advice |
| Caterer's final headcount | Sat, Jan 9, 2027 | Your caterer, in writing |
| Wedding day | Sat, Jan 23, 2027 |
Dec 26 is the day after Christmas, when replies are slow. If your reply-by date lands in a holiday stretch, print an earlier one. That is our advice, and the buffer row is what absorbs it.
The church is the other fixed point. You cannot print a time and venue until the parish confirms them, and parishes differ on how early they want a booking. See church wedding requirements in the Philippines.
If you are mailing paper, add printing and transit
Bliss & Bone says to start ordering 4 to 5 months before the wedding, and to allow 2 to 4 weeks for production and delivery once you approve the proof. Then add addressing and queueing at the post office.
PHLPost publishes estimated turnaround times. These are its figures for ordinary mail, in working days:
| Destination | Published estimate | Recalibrated "due to pandemic" |
|---|---|---|
| Within locality | 1 to 2 | 3 to 5 |
| Intra regional, first band | 5 | 7 |
| Intra regional, second band | 7 | 10 to 15 |
| International: Asia and Asia Pacific | 8 to 10 | 13 to 15 |
| International: Europe and Middle East | 10 to 12 | 15 to 17 |
| International: America | 10 to 14 | 15 to 19 |
PHLPost lists two "Intra Regional Mails" bands without saying which routes fall into which, so plan on the slower row. Every figure is marked "Except for flight cancellations". Ten working days is two calendar weeks, so mail overseas relatives first, or send them the link.
PHLPost also lists Express for committed areas only, at 1 to 2 working days on the first intra-regional band and 3 on the second. If the cards are printed and you are late, our advice is to pay for Express rather than shorten the notice.
Busy months and holidays
December is heavy for weddings and for travel. Xinhua, reporting Philippine Statistics Authority figures, says December was the most preferred month for marriage in 2022, with 55,599 registered marriages, 12.4 percent of the total. Bliss & Bone says to send 10 to 12 weeks out when your date is near a major holiday or a peak travel weekend, so count that as your default for a December or long-weekend wedding.
Guests who need more lead time
- Relatives working abroad. Leave has to be requested and flights booked. Give them a save the date first, and see inviting guests abroad.
- Guests from another province or island. A trip is an overnight arrangement. Confirm the venue early enough for them to plan the route. Our destination guest guide covers what they need to know.
- Principal sponsors. Nuptials.ph says a text or Messenger heads-up is fine, but it is best to schedule a formal meeting to ask them. Our advice is to do that before anything is printed. See how to ask ninongs and ninangs.
Sending digitally
Bliss & Bone says digital invitations follow the same 6 to 8 week guest timeline as printed ones. The difference is preparation: it says a digital invitation can be finalized and sent within days, with no print production window. What goes away is the printing window and the postal transit, so the calendar above loses its first row and the PHLPost table.
What stays is the human part: the notice guests need and the reply-by date your caterer forces. You can edit a published Imbitasyon Ko invitation, and guests who open the link later see the current details, so a corrected reception time does not need a reprint. Replies land against the same guest list you sent it from. The wedding planning checklist shows where the send date sits among the other final-months tasks, and sharing a digital invitation covers the sending itself.
If you are already behind
Send today, and shorten the reply window rather than the notice. Our advice is a reply-by date 7 to 10 days before the wedding, then a message within a week to anyone silent. Tell your caterer the number you have.
An early reply-by date is also what makes a second tier of guests usable. Declines come back in time to send a second round before the invitation looks obviously late. A late invitation with a clear deadline is recoverable. One with no deadline leaves you guessing at the headcount the night before.
Frequently asked questions
When should wedding invitations be sent out?
Bliss & Bone says 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding when a save the date has been sent. Without one, it says 12 weeks, or 10 weeks for a local-only list. Brideandbreakfast.ph also says at least six to eight weeks.
Is it too early to send wedding invitations 4 months ahead?
For a local wedding, yes. Bliss & Bone says more than 4 months ahead is generally too early, because guests misplace invitations and details change. Guests who must travel are the exception, and a save the date is the better tool for them.
When should the RSVP deadline be?
Bliss & Bone says 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding, and 5 to 6 weeks for a destination wedding. Brideandbreakfast.ph says the first deadline can be about 4 weeks before, with a final one at least 2 weeks before. Put it before your caterer's final-count date.
How early should invitations go to guests abroad or from another island?
Bliss & Bone says 10 to 12 weeks for out-of-town guests, and Brideandbreakfast.ph says about three months when guests need time for travel and accommodation. Our advice is to send those guests a save the date months earlier.
Do digital wedding invitations follow a different timeline?
The guest-facing timing is the same, 6 to 8 weeks, says Bliss & Bone. The difference is preparation, because a digital invitation can be finished and sent in days, with no printing or postage.
How long does PHLPost take to deliver a wedding invitation?
PHLPost lists 1 to 2 working days within a locality and 5 to 7 working days between regions for ordinary mail. Its international ordinary mail takes 8 to 10 working days to Asia and Asia Pacific and 10 to 14 to America. These are estimates, and a second table adds more time.
What if I am already late sending invitations?
Send today and shorten the reply window, not the notice. Our advice is a reply-by date 7 to 10 days before the wedding, then message anyone who has not answered within a week.
