How to Share a Digital Wedding Invitation: Viber, Messenger, SMS

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Quick answer

Publish your invitation, then send each guest a personal link on the app they use: SMS, Viber or WhatsApp from the guest list, or Messenger by pasting the copied message. Do family and sponsors first, everyone else next, then remind only the guests who have not replied. Imbitasyon Ko sends nothing automatically.

Two decisions shape everything: which link you send, and which app you send it through. This guide covers what each button in Imbitasyon Ko actually does, the order to send in, and how to see who has answered. For the words to put above the link, use wedding invitation message samples.

Choose the link: shared or personal

You have two kinds of link. Both open the same invitation, and guests need no app or account.

A personal link includes ?to= and a code, and belongs to one guest. If a guest forwards it, replies made through it are recorded under that guest, so send one link per household.

Publish first: sending is switched off until the invitation is live. The private preview link is for you and family only; do not send it to guests.

What each button does

The Share step gives you the shared link. The Guests page gives you a personal link and a channel for each guest.

Way to sendWhat happensGood to know
Share invitationOpens your phone's share sheet with a ready message and the shared linkShows as Copy link on browsers without a share sheet
Copy MessageCopies the message and the guest's linkPaste it into Messenger, Viber or a text
SMSOpens your texting app with the message filled inThe guest's number is filled in if you saved one
WhatsAppOpens WhatsApp with the message filled inThe chat is pre-addressed only if you saved a number
ViberOpens Viber's forward screen in the mobile appYou pick the guest there; on a laptop, use Copy Message
MessengerNo direct sendCopy Message, then paste it into the chat

Numbers can be typed as 0917..., 917... or +63 917... and are converted to one format. A guest with no number gets Copy Message automatically. Nothing sends by itself: you tap once per guest, and the panel shows a count such as 12/40 sent.

Many guests may be on Messenger: Meta's advertising data shows Messenger ads reaching 65.8 million users in the Philippines in late 2025, reports DataReportal. That is ads reach, not a count of your guests, so check before you send.

The link also carries a preview image with the couple's names, the first event date and the theme's colors. Whether Messenger or Viber shows it is up to the app, so send yourself the link and look.

The send order

Follow these steps for the smoothest round.

  1. Test on yourself. Add yourself as a guest, send the message to your own phone, open it inside Messenger or Viber, and RSVP. Then delete the test guest; a deleted guest's link stops working.
  2. Add your guests. One by one, many at once (one name per line), or import a CSV. Add a phone number and a maximum number of persons if you know them; see collecting guest contact details.
  3. Pick a channel and a template. Under Send invitations, choose SMS, WhatsApp, Viber or Copy Message, then a message template. The default is a formal built-in message. Under Manage templates you can save up to 10 of your own, with a name and a link placeholder.
  4. Send to family, sponsors and the wedding party first. Call older relatives before texting; see digital invitations for older relatives.
  5. Send the main list next. Use the app each guest actually uses. Timing follows when to send wedding invitations: 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding, and 10 to 12 weeks for guests who must travel. For overseas guests, see invitations for guests abroad.
  6. Remind only the silent ones. Filter the list to Invited, no reply and use Remind via SMS or another channel. Full schedule: RSVP follow-up.

Mornings and afternoons feel more considerate than late-night messages. That is our advice, not a rule.

What the statuses mean

The guest list shows one status per guest.

StatusMeaning
Not invitedYou have not tapped Send or Copy Message for them
Sent, not openedYou tapped Send or Copy Message; the guest has not opened their link
Opened, no replyThey opened it and have not answered
AttendingThey answered, with the number of persons
MaybeThey answered Maybe
Not attendingThey declined
Checked inScanned at the door (Premium QR check-in)

Sent means you tapped the button. The app cannot confirm the message was delivered, and it does not send anything for you. If a guest replies by phone or chat, open the guest under Edit, RSVP & details and record the answer so it counts in your summary. You can also export the list as a CSV.

Mistakes to avoid

These are our advice, not rules.

  • Sending a screenshot instead of the link. The guest cannot RSVP or tap the map from an image.
  • A bare link. Put a line of greeting above it.
  • A big group chat first. A bare link in a large group is easy to miss. Use a group only as a follow-up for close circles.
  • Forwarding one personal link to several people. Replies land under one guest.
  • Changing the address after sharing. The address can be changed once after publishing, and links already sent to the old address redirect to the new one. Still, settle it before the first send, and before any QR code is printed.
  • Testing only in Chrome. Open the link from Messenger and Viber too.

For a free WhatsApp invitation text generator that needs no sign-up, see invitation wording. Send the link personally, on the guest's own app, and let the guest list do the counting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share a digital wedding invitation on Messenger?

Imbitasyon Ko has no direct Messenger send. Tap Copy Message next to the guest, open your Messenger chat with them, and paste. The pasted text includes their personal link.

Can I send a digital wedding invitation on Viber?

Yes, from the mobile Viber app. The Viber button opens Viber's forward screen with the message filled in, and you pick the guest there. On a laptop, use Copy Message and paste it into Viber.

Should I send the invitation to a group chat or to each guest?

Send it to each guest first, with their name in the message. Our advice: use a group chat only as a follow-up for close circles, because a bare link in a large group is easy to miss.

How do I know who opened my digital wedding invitation?

Send each guest a personal link. The guest list then shows Not invited, Sent not opened, Opened no reply, and the guest's answer once they reply. A single shared link cannot tell you who opened it.

Can I send all the invitations at once?

No. Imbitasyon Ko works one tap per guest and has no bulk sending. You choose a channel, pick a message template, and tap Send on each row.

When should I send a digital wedding invitation?

The usual rule is 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding, and 10 to 12 weeks if guests must travel. After that, remind only the guests who have not replied.
