Sample Wedding Timeline Philippines: 5 Hour-by-Hour Schedules

Monday, August 31, 2026

Quick answer

The couple's day starts about 4.5 to 7.5 hours before the ceremony in our five sample timelines: hair and makeup, dressing, portraits, then travel. Planner Kam Tolentino allows an extra 15 to 25 minutes of travel per leg. Work backwards from the ceremony time your parish confirmed in writing.

Your guests arrive for a ceremony and leave after dinner. You are on the clock hours before. Below are five sample timelines you can copy into your notes, then the arithmetic that turns your ceremony time into a call time, real Philippine sunset times, and the four handovers where the day slips. The reception has its own page, our reception program timeline.

Every time in the samples is our example, not a published schedule. Move the rows to fit your parish slot, your venue, your artists and your drive. HMUA means hair and makeup artist, and NN means noon. Our samples give a church ceremony 75 minutes and a short garden ceremony 45. Our Catholic ceremony order guide cites 60 to 90 minutes for a full Nuptial Mass and 30 to 45 without Mass, so confirm the length with your parish or officiant.

A wedding day drawn left to right as a single path: sunrise over houses, a lit vanity mirror with a hanging gown and bouquet, a car on the road, a church with a spire, and evening string lights over two chairs

Which sample timeline fits your day

Your shape depends on the ceremony slot you are given. Ask the parish coordinator whether another ceremony follows yours. If it does, your start time is fixed and you cannot run late.

Sample 2 has a gap to plan on purpose. If the parish gives you 10:00 AM and the reception venue opens at 6:00 PM, you own about six hours in the middle for yourselves, your entourage and any guest who travelled.

Sample 1: 9:00 AM ceremony with a brunch reception

Sample 3: 4:00 PM ceremony with a dinner reception

Bride and Breakfast built a 4:00 PM timeline from two Philippine coordinators, Kam Tolentino and Amanda Tirol, starting hair and makeup at 7:00 AM and reception at 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Ours starts later and keeps portraits before the ceremony. The 5:45 PM portrait row only works if sunset is later than that. Manila's sunset on December 15 is 5:29 PM, per the sunset table below.

Turn your ceremony time into a call time

  1. Write down the ceremony start your parish or venue confirmed in writing.
  2. Subtract travel plus a buffer. Kam Tolentino allows "extra 15-25 minutes of travel" on each leg.
  3. Subtract 30 minutes for dressing, more for a gown with lacing or many buttons.
  4. Subtract your hair and makeup, using the number your HMUA gives.
  5. Subtract the entourage block, sized by faces and by how many artists work at once.
  6. Subtract 30 minutes for the team to arrive and set up.
  7. Round down to the quarter hour and take another 15 minutes.

Joy, a US wedding-website company, suggests 30-minute buffers at key transitions. If the result is somewhere you refuse to wake up, add artists or shorten the prep list. Do not shorten the estimate. Our wedding HMUA guide turns heads and minutes into a call time.

Joy's hair and makeup figure is 30 to 45 minutes per person, with the bride last. Bride and Breakfast and Nuptials.ph state no rule on who goes first. Before you trust any figure, ask your HMUA two questions: is that per person or per service, and how many artists work in parallel.

Golden hour times for the Philippines

Kam Tolentino's reason for photos straight after the ceremony is light: "After the ceremony, you still have the natural light for your postnup until 5PM". Here is sunset, from the US Naval Observatory's rise and set data for five sample dates in 2027 (the 15th of January, April, June, September and December), at city-centre coordinates:

Date (2027)ManilaCebuDavao
January 155:46 PM5:41 PM5:40 PM
April 156:10 PM5:55 PM5:47 PM
June 156:26 PM6:07 PM5:55 PM
September 155:58 PM5:45 PM5:38 PM
December 155:29 PM5:25 PM5:24 PM

Manila's sunset moves 57 minutes across those dates and Davao's 31, against the swing Joy's readers plan around: "In December, golden hour may arrive at 4:30pm. In June, it is closer to 8pm." Sample 5's ceremony ends after sunset in every row above. Look up your date with the USNO rise and set tool.

The four places the day slips

HandoverWhat goes wrongWhat absorbs it
Chair to gownMakeup runs long15 to 20 minutes before dressing
Venue to venueTraffic, or a route nobody droveA drive-time test on the same weekday and hour
Ceremony to receptionReceiving line and photos with everyoneA named cut-off and someone empowered to call it
Anything to foodFamily and entourage meals arrive lateCount them in the supplier meal order

The last row is Kam Tolentino's: "There have been many instances where couples underestimate the time required ordering and waiting for food for their family and entourage." Our venue checklist covers what to confirm on the visit, and the emcee script covers the lines that move the program along. The ceremony order itself is in the Catholic guide above. If your reception comes in a hotel or resort package, see what Philippine wedding packages include; for the cake-cutting slot, see wedding cake flavors and tasting.

What guests should see

Guests need the times they must be somewhere. A 4:30 AM call time on a public page only worries people.

Put in front of guestsKeep on your own sheet
Ceremony start time and venueHair and makeup call time
Reception start time and venueThe prep venue and address
Dress code, if you set oneTravel buffers and photo blocks
Whether the reception has an end timeThe order the entourage sits in the chair

On Imbitasyon Ko the ceremony and the reception are separate event blocks, each with its own venue, start time and optional dress code. Leaving the end time blank shows "3:00 PM onwards" instead of a hard finish you would have to defend.

Build one schedule backwards from the ceremony time and hand the same page to your beauty team, photographer, coordinator, caterer and host. That is one conversation instead of five.

Frequently asked questions

What is a typical wedding day timeline in the Philippines?

Hair and makeup comes first, then dressing, portraits, travel to the church, the ceremony, photos, and the reception. Our five samples run from a 9:00 AM ceremony with a brunch reception to a 5:30 PM ceremony, and every time in them is an example to adjust.

What time should hair and makeup start on the wedding day?

Count backwards from the ceremony. Planner Kam Tolentino says the timeline usually starts as early as 7 hours before, including the makeup artist's setup time, and Nuptials.ph's 9:00 AM example has the couple up at 4:00 AM with hair and makeup at 5:00 AM. Our samples range from 4.5 to 7.5 hours.

Should the bride do hair and makeup first or last?

Ask your makeup artist. Joy's guide puts the bride last so her look stays freshest, but Bride and Breakfast and Nuptials.ph do not state a rule either way, and the answer depends on how many artists are working.

How much buffer time should you add to a wedding day timeline?

Add a buffer at each handover instead of one cushion at the end. Kam Tolentino allows an extra 15 to 25 minutes of travel for each leg, such as hotel to church or church to reception, and Joy suggests 30-minute buffers at key transitions.

How long does a wedding ceremony take?

A full Nuptial Mass is cited at 60 to 90 minutes and a wedding liturgy without Mass at 30 to 45 minutes in our Catholic ceremony order guide. Our samples use 75 minutes for a church ceremony and 45 for a short garden one, so confirm the length with your parish or officiant.

When is golden hour at a Philippine wedding?

In the late afternoon in every month. US Naval Observatory data for five sample dates in 2027 puts Manila's sunset between 5:29 PM and 6:26 PM, Cebu's between 5:25 PM and 6:07 PM, and Davao's between 5:24 PM and 5:55 PM. Look up your own date and city.
