23 Wedding Invitation Message Samples for SMS, Viber, Messenger

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Quick answer

Send each guest a short personal message: greet them by name, say who is getting married and when, put the invitation link on its own line, and ask them to reply through it. Use the samples below by recipient, and the SMS versions when a text has to stay under 160 characters.

The message around your link decides whether it gets opened. Below are 23 distinct invitation messages, sorted by who you are writing to, including a set that fits in one SMS. Three follow-up messages come after them. Replace the brackets and send.

Wording for the invitation itself is in wedding invitation wording examples. This page covers only the note that carries the link.

What every invitation message needs

A message invitation is fine when it is personal: their name, your own voice, sent one to one. Our advice is to include these five parts.

PartWhy it is there
Their nameShows this is not a mass forward
Who you areNumbers and new accounts are not always recognized
The dateLets them check their calendar before they open anything
The link, alone on a lineOn a phone it renders as one tappable line
One ask"Please RSVP through the link" is enough

Messages for relatives

Family can take more warmth. Our advice for older relatives is fewer words and a clear "open this" line.

1. Tita or tito

Hi Tita [Name], it's [Your Name]. [Partner] and I are getting married on [Date] and we would love to have you with us.
Our invitation, with the venue and the RSVP, is here:
[Link]
Could you let us know by [Deadline]? Thank you, Tita!

2. Lola or lolo (short and plain)

Hi Lola, this is our wedding invitation:
[Link]
Please open it to see the date, time and venue. We would be so happy to have you with us.

3. Cousins and younger relatives

Hi [Name]! [Partner] and I are getting married on [Date]. Your invitation is here:
[Link]
Please RSVP on the page so we can save you a seat.

4. Sent by a parent on your behalf

Hi [Name], this is [Parent's Name], [Your Name]'s mother/father. [Your Name] and [Partner] are getting married on [Date] and would love for your family to come.
Their invitation is here:
[Link]
Please RSVP on the page. Thank you!

5. Relatives abroad

Hi [Name]! We are getting married on [Date] in [City], Philippines, and we hope you can come. Here is our invitation, with the venue, map and schedule:
[Link]
Please RSVP through it so we can plan around your travel. The date is early on purpose, so you can arrange leave.

6. Someone you rarely message

Hi [Name], this is [Your Name], [how they know you, e.g. Tita Cora's nephew]. I am getting married on [Date] and it would mean a lot to have you there.
Invitation and RSVP:

7. A principal sponsor, after they said yes

Hi [Ninong/Ninang Name], thank you again for saying yes to being one of our principal sponsors. Here is our invitation, with the entourage list:
[Link]
Please check that your name and title are spelled correctly, and please RSVP through the page.

Before you send this, open your invitation and check the name is shown. On a Free invitation the public page shows only the first 10 entourage names, while paid plans show the full list, so anyone past the tenth would find no name.

Asking someone to be a sponsor comes first and is a separate conversation: see how to ask ninongs and ninangs.

Messages for coworkers and bosses

Keep it warm but not chatty, and say nothing that assumes they will come.

8. Your boss

Good day, [Boss's Name]. I am getting married on [Date] in [City], and I would be honored if you could join us.
The invitation, with the details and RSVP, is here:
[Link]
Thank you.

9. A coworker you are close to

Details and RSVP:

No pressure if the schedule does not work.

10. A team chat

Messages for friends and barkada

Write it the way you talk. Skip the announcement voice.

11. Best friend

[Name]!! [Partner] and I are getting married on [Date]. You have to be there. Invitation and RSVP:
[Link]
Tell me once you have opened it!

12. College or work friends

Hi [Name]! It has been a while, and I wanted you to hear this from me: I am getting married on [Date]. Here is the invitation:
[Link]
I would love to see you there. Please RSVP on the page.

13. Friends in another city

Hi [Name]! We are getting married on [Date] in [City]. I know it is a trip, so I am telling you early. Invitation with the map and schedule:
[Link]
Please RSVP when you know. I will understand either way.

14. A friend in your entourage

Hi [Name]! You are on our entourage list, so please check that your name is spelled right on our invitation:
[Link]
And please RSVP there too. Thank you for standing with us!

Run the same check first: a Free invitation lists only the first 10 entourage names.

Messages for households, plus-ones and small weddings

Set each guest's maximum persons in Guests first (2 by default, up to 10). The RSVP form will not accept more, so the message and the page agree. The plus-one policy guide covers who counts.

15. Household

Hi Tita [Name], [Partner] and I are getting married on [Date], and we would love to have your whole family with us. Your link lets you reply for up to [N] people:
[Link]
Please RSVP on the page and tell us who is coming.

16. A guest and a plus-one

Hi [Name]! We are getting married on [Date], and you are welcome to bring a guest. Your invitation is here:
[Link]
When you RSVP, please enter 2 people, and text me your guest's name.

17. A small, intimate wedding

Hi [Name], we are keeping our wedding small, with only our closest family and friends, and you are on that list. It is on [Date] at [Venue]. Invitation:
[Link]
Seating is limited, so this invitation is for you and [Names] only. Please RSVP by [Deadline].

A full version with venue and time

For guests who want the essentials in the chat itself, and the map on the page.

18. A full message

Hi [Name]! [Partner] and I are getting married, and we would love to have you with us.

Date: [Weekday], [Date]
Time: [Ceremony time]
Venue: [Venue], [City]

The map, schedule and RSVP are on our invitation:
[Link]
Please RSVP by [Deadline].

Messages for group chats

A group chat is quick, but it can bury your link. Use it for close circles, and keep each message to a few lines.

19. Family group

Hi everyone! [Partner] and I are getting married on [Date]. Our invitation is here:
[Link]
Please RSVP on the page by [Deadline] so we can finalize the headcount. Thank you!

Short messages that fit one SMS

Standard SMS holds 160 characters, per Twilio. Its glossary says devices switch to a 16-bit encoding for characters outside the standard set, which is why an emoji or curly apostrophe shortens the limit (about 70 characters, our arithmetic from Twilio's 140 bytes per message).

A personal Imbitasyon Ko link is roughly 60 to 75 characters: the domain, your slug, ?to= and a 22-character token. With a 75-character link, a short name and a date like Jan 24, 2027, each message below stays under 160 characters. Use straight apostrophes and no emoji.

22. Tita or tito

Hi Tita [Name], this is [Your Name]. Our wedding is on [Date]. Invitation: [Link]

23. Anyone

Hi [Name], I am getting married on [Date]! Invitation and RSVP: [Link]

24. Guest who does not use chat apps

Hi [Name], [Your Name] here. Wedding on [Date]. Please open: [Link]

Follow-up messages: two nudges and a thank-you

The Guests page in Imbitasyon Ko marks each guest as "Sent, not opened" or "Opened, no reply". Match the nudge to the status, and keep it to one line. These three are not counted in the total above.

25. Sent, not opened

Hi [Name], did our invitation reach you? Here it is again: [Link]

26. Opened, no reply

Hi [Name], we saw you had a look. Could you tap RSVP on the page when you know? [Link]

27. Thank-you after they RSVP

Thank you for replying, [Name]! We have you down for [N]. We will send the final details closer to the day.

The full chase schedule, with a message for every wave, is in RSVP follow-up and final headcount.

Sending the message from Imbitasyon Ko

  1. Publish your invitation first. Sending is disabled until it is live.
  2. Open Guests, add each guest, with a phone number if you have one, and set their maximum number of persons.
  3. Under "Send invitations", pick a channel: SMS, Viber, WhatsApp or Copy Message. Each guest gets one tap, and nothing sends automatically.
  4. Choose a message template. The default is a formal built-in text. Under "Manage templates", paste any sample from this page and type {name} where the guest's name goes and {link} where the personal link goes. You can save up to 10 templates.

Channel details:

ChannelWhat happens
SMSOpens your texting app, with the guest's number filled in if you saved one
WhatsAppOpens a chat with the guest's number, if you saved one
ViberOpens Viber's forward screen in the mobile app, where you pick the guest
MessengerNo direct send: copy the message, then paste it into the chat

Free invitations allow 20 guests with personal links. Standard and Premium have no cap (pricing). A guest who opens their personal link sees their own name and can reply with up to the number of persons you set.

There is also a free WhatsApp invitation text generator that needs no sign-up. You type the guest's name, the couple's nicknames and an optional link, and it prints one formal message in fixed wording. The names come out wrapped in asterisks, which WhatsApp shows as bold. In SMS or Messenger, delete them. It writes one long message, not the short SMS versions above.

Mistakes that make a good message look like spam

These are our advice, not a published rule.

  • A bare link. Always put a line of greeting above it.
  • Sending to a group first. A personal message works better, and a group message can be buried within minutes.
  • A link buried mid-sentence. Put it alone on its own line.
  • Asking for the reply in the chat. Ask guests to RSVP through the link, so their answer lands in your list instead of scrolling away.
  • Emoji in an SMS. It cuts the limit to about 70 characters.
  • Skipping the date. A guest who cannot come will say so faster if the date is already in the text.

For channels, order and timing, see how to share your digital invitation. If a guest's phone number is missing, collecting guest contact details has a quick way to fill the list, and digital invitations for older relatives covers those who need a call first.

Frequently asked questions

What do you write when you send a wedding invitation link?

Greet the guest by name, say who you are and that you are getting married, give the date, put the link on its own line, and ask them to RSVP through it. Two to four short lines is enough.

How do you invite someone to your wedding by text message?

Keep it to one message: their name, your names, the date and the link. Standard SMS holds 160 characters, and a personal invitation link is roughly 60 to 75 of them with a typical slug, so the wording around it has to be very short.

Can you send a wedding invitation through Messenger or Viber?

Yes. Send it to each guest one to one and paste the link into the chat with a greeting. Imbitasyon Ko has no automatic send for Messenger, so you copy the message and paste it. Viber opens a forward screen in the mobile app, where you pick the guest.

Is it rude to invite guests by text?

Not when the message is personal. Use the guest's name, write in your usual voice, and send it to them directly rather than dropping a bare link into a big group chat.

Should you send a wedding invitation to a group chat?

Use group chats for close family or friends, and only after a personal message or as a follow-up. A bare link in a group chat can be buried within minutes.

What is a good short wedding invitation message?

Try: Hi [Name], I am getting married on [Date]! Invitation and RSVP: [Link]. Swap in the name, date and link, and it fits one text.
