Bridal Shower Ideas Philippines: 31 Themes, Games and Venues

Saturday, September 19, 2026

Quick answer

A Filipino bridal shower is a gift-and-games party the maid of honor and bridesmaids throw for the bride, usually 1 to 3 months before the wedding, for 10 to 20 guests. Plan about three hours: food, three or four games, then the gifts. Pick a theme, a venue and games from the 31 ideas below.

A bridal shower is the bride's friends throwing her a party built around gifts, games and food. It is not the despedida de soltera. Nuptials.ph puts the difference plainly: the shower is thrown by the maid of honor or the bride's closest friends, while the despedida is "hosted by the bride's family" and is "a much more formal affair." Our despedida vs bridal shower guide compares them in full. Below: the basics in one table, 5 themes, 10 games, 18 activities and venues with peso figures where a source gives one, a sample 3-hour program, gifts by budget, and invitation text to copy.

The basics: who, when, how long

GiftsGuests bring one; shower gifts "are more modest than wedding gifts"Juan Carlo

Bride and Breakfast also says "some couples have decided to share one together," so a couple shower is an option. Juan Carlo adds that a bride can have two: one for family and one for friends. Nuptials.ph's entourage guide (2020) says the maid of honor "may also arrange the bachelorette party and bridal shower, but this is not a major practice in the Philippines," so a shower is optional. The maid of honor's other big job is the toast, covered in our maid of honor speech guide.

5 themes, and what each one looks like

These are general shower themes quoted from Shutterfly, a US photo-gift company. None is claimed to be especially popular in the Philippines.

ThemeWhat it looks like (Shutterfly)
Tea Party"Throw an elegant tea party with vintage tea sets, floral china, and an array of teas. Include scones, finger sandwiches, and pastries"
Garden Party"Host it outdoors under the shade of trees or in a greenhouse"
Brunch Bash"Set up a buffet with waffles, fresh fruit, and mimosas"
Tropical Paradise"a bridal shower full of palm leaves, pineapples, and bright tropical flowers"
Boho Dream"Incorporate dreamcatchers, macramé, and earthy tones"

Our suggestion: choose the venue first, then the theme it can hold. Tea Party and Brunch Bash suit a home or a café; Garden Party and Tropical Paradise need outdoor space.

10 bridal shower games

All ten are from Nuptials.ph. Most need only placards or small whiteboards and markers.

#GameHow it runs
1Where Were We?Guests guess where 10 numbered photos of the couple were taken
2The Newlywed GameThe fiancé answers questions on video beforehand; the bride answers live to see if they match
3Would the Bride-To-Be RatherGuests guess which of two options the bride picks each round
4How Old Is the Bride and GroomGuests guess the couple's age in photos from different stages of life
5Recipe ContestGuests bring a recipe for the couple; the bride picks her favorite
6Paper BrideTeams make a gown from tissue paper and tape; the bride judges
7Two Truths and a LieEach guest tells three stories about the bride; one is false
8The Lingerie GameGuests bring lingerie that matches their personality; the bride matches each gift to its giver
9A Favorite MemoryGuests write a memory anonymously; the bride reads each aloud and guesses the writer
10Cocktail ConcoctionGuests invent a drink for the bride, who picks the best

The same article warns that some classics, like "the toilet paper wedding dress game," can feel corny, so ask the bride before you plan Paper Bride. For large groups it suggests "one or two bigger games so everyone can participate."

18 activities and venues

Any of these can be the whole program. Figures are as posted, so confirm them when you book. Rows 2 and 5 overlap with the Tea Party and Garden Party themes, so we count 31 distinct ideas in this article, not 33.

A sample 3-hour program

This is our sample, built on the Nuptials.ph length (about three hours, three or four games) and Juan Carlo's outline of food and drinks first, then opening the gifts "in front of everyone."

  1. 0:00 to 0:30. Guests arrive, drinks and a light first course. Start with an icebreaker game like Two Truths and a Lie.
  2. 0:30 to 1:15. Main meal.
  3. 1:15 to 2:00. Two games, such as the Newlywed Game and A Favorite Memory.
  4. 2:00 to 2:40. The bride opens the gifts.
  5. 2:40 to 3:00. One last game or a short toast from the maid of honor, then photos and favors.

What it costs

No source we found publishes a Philippine bridal shower budget. Executive Gourmet, a Metro Manila caterer, gives a general range of "₱345 to ₱1,250 per person" across event types and a simple formula: guests × price per head. For a 15-guest shower (our example headcount):

OptionHow to compute it15 guests
Catered food at home15 × ₱345 to ₱1,250₱5,175 to ₱18,750
Bakebe baking package15 × ₱799From about ₱11,985 (as low as ₱799 each)

Who pays is up to the hosts. Juan Carlo's point that several hosts can split the cost is the usual answer. Our advice: agree on the total and the split in writing before anything is booked.

Gift ideas by budget

Nuptials.ph's gift guide puts gifts from friends and acquaintances at "PHP 1,000 to about PHP 2,500" and "about PHP 5,000 or more" if you are close to the bride. Juan Carlo says "there is no required amount."

The invitation: what to include, and text to copy

A shower invitation needs the bride's name, the date and start time, the full address, the theme or dress code, the host's name, and how and when to reply. Juan Carlo suggests sending it "at least as early as a month in advance."

These four are our wording. Fill in the brackets.

  1. Home merienda:
You're invited to a bridal shower for [Bride's Name]! [Day], [Month] [Date], [Time] at [Host's Name]'s home, [Full Address]. Theme: [Theme]. Please reply to [Host's Name] by [Date].
  1. Café or restaurant:
Join us for [Bride's Name]'s bridal shower: brunch, games and gifts. [Day], [Month] [Date], [Time], [Venue Name], [City]. Hosted by [Host's Name]. Please reply by [Date] so we can confirm the headcount.
  1. Surprise shower:
Shh, it's a surprise! We're throwing [Bride's Name] a bridal shower on [Day], [Month] [Date] at [Time], [Venue Name], [City]. Please arrive by [Time] and don't tell her. Reply to [Host's Name] by [Date].
  1. Couple shower:
[Bride's Name] and [Groom's Name] are having a couple shower! [Day], [Month] [Date], [Time], [Venue Name], [City]. Hosted by [Host's Name]. Please reply by [Date].

Send these as a message, not through your wedding invitation. Imbitasyon Ko is built for the wedding itself: its cover always reads "The Wedding of" above the couple's names, and every event you add appears to everyone who opens it. The main invitation is covered in our guide to making a digital wedding invitation.

Settle the venue first, since it decides the theme, the food budget and the guest count. Then pick three or four games, agree the cost split among the hosts, and send the invitation at least a month ahead.
