How to Add a Google Map to Your Wedding Invitation (Step by Step)
Wednesday, July 8, 2026
Quick answer
Search your venue in Google Maps, check the pin is on the right entrance, tap Share and copy the link, then paste the full https:// link into the Google Maps link field of your event in Imbitasyon Ko. If you leave it empty, guests still get a View Location button that searches for your venue name and address.
Guests need one thing from the map: a tap that opens the right entrance. This guide covers getting the link, pasting it into the Imbitasyon Ko editor, what guests see if you skip it, how to handle a ceremony and reception in two places, and a checklist to run before you send.
What guests see
Each event card on the invitation shows the date, time, venue name and address, then buttons. What the View Location button does depends on what you filled in.
| You filled in | The View Location button |
|---|---|
| A Google Maps link | Opens your link in a new tab |
| No link, but a venue name and address | Opens a Google Maps search for "venue name, address" |
| Neither | Is not shown (a venue name is needed to publish anyway) |
The card also has calendar buttons (Google Calendar, and Apple / Outlook Calendar). The calendar entry's location is your venue name and address, joined into one line; it does not use the map link.
Add a map in 8 steps
- Search the venue in Google Maps by its full registered name and city. Names like "Function Hall" match many places.
- Zoom in on the pin. Check that it sits on the entrance guests will use, not the middle of a large compound. Our venue ocular checklist is the moment to note which gate is open.
- If the venue is missing or the pin is off, drop your own. Google's Android help says: "Search for a place or drop a pin on the map. Touch and hold the map to drop a pin." Do it standing at the gate if you can. Google has a matching page for iPhone and iPad.
- Share and copy the link. On Android, Google says: "At the bottom, tap the place's name or address," then tap Share. Copy the link from the share sheet, or send it to yourself in Messenger. Our advice: use the link from Share rather than one copied from a browser address bar, which can be much longer. On a computer, Google's directions help describes Share, then Send a link, then Copy link.
- Open the event in the editor. In the Events step (Date, time & location), choose Add details — address, map, dress code (optional) on the event.
- Paste the whole link into Google Maps link. The field's example is
https://maps.app.goo.gl/.... - Fill the address line too (below). It powers the fallback search and the calendar entry.
- Test it on your phone: tap View Location on the preview, then again on the published page from a phone that is not yours.
What the field accepts
| Rule | What happens |
|---|---|
| The link must start with http:// or https:// | A link without it, such as maps.app.goo.gl/x, is saved as no link |
| At most 500 characters | A longer link is saved as no link |
| Any web link is allowed | It is not limited to Google Maps |
| A wrong value does not block saving | Your other event details still save |
So paste the complete link. If a link is rejected, the button falls back to the venue-name search instead of your pin, so preview it to confirm which one guests get.
Ceremony and reception in two places
Add each as its own event with the + Wedding Ceremony and + Reception buttons. New events start with no date and a default time (2:00 PM for a ceremony, 6:00 PM for a reception). A new ceremony also gets a default end time of 4:00 PM, which publishes as it is unless you change it, so set the date and check the times. Each event gets its own venue, address, map link and View Location button, so a guest going only to the reception has a direct pin. If the two sites are far apart, send transportation and parking details with them. For a gate-specific pin, Plus Codes or a Waze link, use that guide too: the field takes one link per event.
What to type in the address line
The address is one line of up to 400 characters, shown in small text under the venue name. Copy-ready:
[Street], [Barangay], [City] · near [landmark] · use [gate or entrance]
Keep it short: it also becomes the calendar location. Put long directions in the message that carries the link (see how to share your digital invitation).
Before you send
- The pin is on the entrance, not the building.
- The venue name in Maps matches the one on the invitation.
- The link starts with https:// and opens on an Android and an iPhone.
- The ceremony and reception each have their own link.
- The address line has the barangay and a landmark.
- You tapped View Location on the published page, not only the preview.
- A printed page shows the venue as words too; see older relatives.
- If you print a QR code that opens the page, test it.
- If the venue changes, edit the event: the same link shows the new details.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add a Google Maps link to a wedding invitation?
Find your venue in Google Maps, check the pin, tap Share and copy the link. In the Imbitasyon Ko editor, open the Events step (Date, time and location), choose Add details on the event, and paste the full link, starting with https://, into the Google Maps link field. Guests then see a View Location button.
What happens if I leave the Google Maps link empty?
Guests still get a View Location button, but it opens a Google Maps search built from your venue name and address. It works best when the address line is complete. If neither a venue name nor an address is filled in, no button is shown.
What if my wedding venue is not on Google Maps?
Drop your own pin. Google's Android help says to search for a place or drop a pin, and to touch and hold the map to drop one. Then tap the place's name or address at the bottom, tap Share, and paste the link into the event. Drop it on the actual entrance, not on the building.
Should the ceremony and reception each have their own map link?
Yes, when they are at different venues. Each event in Imbitasyon Ko has its own Google Maps link and its own View Location button, so add the ceremony and the reception as two events and pin each one.
Why did my map link not save?
The field only keeps a link that starts with http:// or https:// and is no longer than 500 characters. Anything else is saved as no link, and guests get the venue-name search instead. Copy the link with Share rather than from a browser address bar, and paste the whole thing.
Can I use a link from another map app?
The field accepts any web link that starts with http:// or https://, so it is not limited to Google Maps. The fallback search button uses Google Maps. If a link does not open properly on a phone, test it before you send.
