Silver Wedding Anniversary Philippines: Party Plan and Program
Monday, September 21, 2026
Quick answer
Plan a silver (25th) anniversary like a small reception: settle who hosts and pays, size the guest list to the budget, get per-head quotes, then set a program with a prayer, love story, toast, dance and thank-you. Send invitations about 6 to 8 weeks ahead with an RSVP deadline, and say whether gifts are expected.
A silver anniversary party is planned like a small wedding reception: decide who hosts and pays, size the guest list to the budget, then run a program. Below are those steps, a budgeting method, one Filipino emcee's sample program, invitation text you can copy, and a timeline.
There is no fixed script for a 25th. Our advice: decide first whether it is a quiet celebration for the two of you or a party, and whether the couple or their children organize it. This guide assumes a party with a program and an invitation. The Mass or renewal ceremony itself, and what to ask your parish, is covered in our renewal of vows guide.

Who hosts, and who pays
Decide this first. It drives the guest list, the budget and whose name is on the invitation.
| Question | Practical guidance |
|---|---|
| Who plans it | The couple or their adult children; agree early |
| Is it a surprise | Keep the guest list and venue details off any channel the couple might see |
| Who pays | Usually whoever hosts; confirm with anyone helping before booking anything |
| Who speaks for the family | Pick one child or relative to coordinate the venue and the emcee |
Guest list: size it in circles
Our advice: think in three circles. The inner circle is immediate family and the friends who were part of the marriage's story. The middle circle is extended family and active friends. The outer circle is distant relatives and neighbors. How far out you go is a budget and venue decision; there is no standard count for any circle.
There is also no rule that the original entourage must reappear as a wedding party. You can give specific people a moment instead, such as a toast, a dance or a reading. For trimming the list, see our guest list management guide.
A program you can adapt
This is one Filipino wedding emcee's sample anniversary program, published on the emcee's own site. It has 23 items in two parts (14 and 9); we grouped them into 15 steps and kept the source order. Treat it as one sample, and drop or reorder steps to fit your scale.
| # | Segment | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrival and registration, photo booth | Guests arrive and take photos while waiting |
| 2 | Welcome by the emcee, entrance of the family, grand entrance of the couple | The formal start |
| 3 | Opening prayer | Assign a prayer leader |
| 4 | Welcome remarks by the couple | Marked optional in the source |
| 5 | Love story of the couple | Told live by one of the children, or by video (AVP) |
| 6 | Inspirational message | From a friend or one of the children |
| 7 | Cake cutting or wine toasting, then a ceremonial toast | Assign a toastmaster |
| 8 | Pictorials, eating time, intermission numbers | The meal |
| 9 | Well-wishers | A few selected guests speak |
| 10 | Games or trivia about the couple | Prizes recommended |
| 11 | AVP slideshow of the family | A second, wider look back |
| 12 | Couple's dance | Marked optional in the source |
| 13 | Games for singles, then for married couples | Prizes recommended |
| 14 | Thank-you message from the couple, closing by the emcee | Ends the formal program |
| 15 | Open dancing | The party continues |
For ready-to-read lines for the toast, cake cutting and dance, adapt our wedding emcee script; those segments carry over directly. For the inspirational message or a card, pick a line from our wedding anniversary messages.
Budget it from quotes
We found no published cost figures for a Filipino anniversary party that we could verify, so this guide quotes none. Build your number instead:
- Fix the guest count first. It is the biggest driver of catering and venue cost.
- Decide the scale (a sit-down dinner with a full program or a simple merienda) before pricing venues, since it changes the space you need.
- Get per-head catering and venue quotes for your count and city.
- Add fixed costs separately: cake, photos, decor, sound, invitations. These do not scale with headcount.
Our wedding cost guide has per-head catering and venue figures; the same math applies to an anniversary reception of the same size.
What the invitation has to carry
It shares most of a wedding invitation's checklist: names, date, time, venue, whether there is a Mass or blessing, and RSVP details. A few items are specific to an anniversary party:
| Must include | Why |
|---|---|
| Who is inviting | If the children host, say so |
| The years you are marking | Separates it from a first wedding |
| A secrecy note, if it is a surprise | Guests need to be told not to mention it |
| Whether gifts are expected | See our gift ideas and GCash gift etiquette guides if you want to set expectations |
| RSVP deadline | To confirm numbers with the venue and caterer |
On timing, Paperlust, a US and Australian wedding-stationery site, recommends sending wedding invitations "6-8 weeks before your wedding date." It is written for weddings, not anniversaries, but it is a reasonable default for a party of similar size.
Attire, decor and gifts
Our advice, not a description of custom:
| Question | What we suggest |
|---|---|
| Decor | Silver accents fit the year's name; one color on linens, cake or flowers is enough |
| Dress code | State it on the invitation, since guests cannot guess whether it is formal or casual |
| Gifts | Say whether gifts are expected, or write a no-gifts note; guests will otherwise ask the family |
| The couple's outfits | Dress for the program you set; if you renew vows, see the attire notes in our renewal of vows guide |
Invitation text to copy
Replace the brackets. One paragraph per line.
Hosted by the couple:
Twenty-five years ago we said yes, and you have been part of the story since. Please join us as we celebrate our silver anniversary on [date] at [venue].
Kindly reply by [date] so we can confirm numbers with the venue.
Hosted by the children:
Our parents, [Names], have been married for 25 years. Please join us, their children, in celebrating them on [date] at [venue].
Kindly reply by [date] so we can finalize the seating.
A surprise note:
This is a surprise! Please do not mention the party to [Names] before [date]. Arrive by [time] so we are all seated before they walk in.
A no-gifts note:
Please, no gifts. Your company on the night is what we are hoping for.
Using a wedding invitation app for an anniversary
Be clear about the limits. On an Imbitasyon Ko invitation, the cover heading ("The Wedding of…") and the opening paragraph are fixed wedding wording. You pick one of four openings (Catholic, Christian, Civil or Islamic) but do not edit their text. The Catholic opening is written for a wedding Mass, so it fits only if you are holding one. The Civil opening mentions your families and no Mass, so it reads more neutrally for an anniversary. Either way, the top of the page will still read as a wedding.
What you do control:
- The event. Choose "Other Event" and type your own event name, such as "Silver Anniversary Dinner," with its own venue, time and dress code.
- The closing message. A free-text field on every plan that replaces the standard closing paragraph. Paste one of the texts above here. The sign-off under it still shows the couple's names, so a children-hosted text should say in its own words who is inviting.
- Co-inviters. Up to 30 names listed below the closing, one per line, which is where children who host can appear.
- The love story section. On the Standard plan and up, where your 25 years can be told in order.
If a wedding heading on the cover is a problem for your family, a printed card or a simple message may suit better. For more wording ideas, see our invitation wording examples.
A planning timeline
Our advice, except where a source is named.
| When | Task |
|---|---|
| 3 months before | Decide host, scale and budget; ask the parish about a Mass or blessing if you want one |
| 2 to 3 months before | Book the venue and caterer; collect photos for the AVP |
| 6 to 8 weeks before | Send invitations (Paperlust's lead time for weddings) |
| 2 to 3 weeks before | Chase RSVPs; brief the emcee on the program |
| 1 to 2 weeks before | Confirm final numbers with the venue |
Golden and other milestone years
According to Wikipedia, associating anniversaries with precious metals such as "gold" (50 years) or "silver" (25 years) "has been documented in Germanic countries since the 1500s." Its table of traditional names includes these years from the US column:
| Year | Traditional name (Wikipedia's US list) |
|---|---|
| 1st | Paper |
| 5th | Wood |
| 10th | Tin or aluminum |
| 15th | Crystal |
| 20th | China |
| 25th | Silver |
| 30th | Pearl |
| 40th | Ruby |
| 50th | Gold |
| 60th | Diamond |
The steps above apply the same way to a golden (50th) anniversary; expect a larger, more multi-generational list simply because more years have passed. Whatever year you mark, the Mass or blessing is a parish question, and the party is the couple's or the children's call.
Frequently asked questions
How do you celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary?
Pick a scale first: a dinner for two, a family lunch or a full party with a program. For a party, settle who hosts and pays, size the guest list to the budget, and build a program. One Filipino emcee's sample program runs from an opening prayer and love story to a toast, the couple's dance and a thank-you.
Who hosts a 25th wedding anniversary party?
Either the couple or their adult children. Agree on it first, because it decides who pays, who signs the invitation and whether the party is a surprise. Whoever hosts should usually cover the cost, and should confirm that with anyone helping before booking.
What is the program for a wedding anniversary celebration?
One Filipino wedding emcee publishes a sample with 23 items in two parts. It runs from registration and the couple's grand entrance, through an opening prayer, love story, inspirational message and toast, to the meal, well-wishers, games, a family slideshow, the couple's dance, a thank-you from the couple and open dancing.
Why is the 25th anniversary called silver?
Wikipedia's wedding anniversary page lists silver for the 25th and gold for the 50th, and says linking anniversaries to precious metals has been documented in Germanic countries since the 1500s.
When should you send 25th anniversary invitations?
About 6 to 8 weeks before the party is a reasonable default. That is the lead time one wedding-stationery site, Paperlust, gives for wedding invitations, and it works for an anniversary party of similar size. Set an RSVP deadline so you can confirm numbers with the venue.
Can I use a wedding invitation app for an anniversary?
Yes, with limits. On Imbitasyon Ko the cover heading and opening paragraph are fixed wedding wording, so it will read as a wedding at the top. You can rename the event, write your own closing message and list your children as co-inviters, which is where the 25 years is said in your own words.
