Emerald Green Wedding Motif: 8 Palettes and Entourage Colors

Thursday, October 22, 2026

Quick answer

Emerald is a rich, bluish green, and sources disagree on its hex, from a bright #00FF60 to deep wedding shades near #0F6B4F. It pairs with gold, white, blush, champagne or navy. Put it on bridesmaids and groomsmen accents, and give principal sponsors cream or off-white.

"Emerald" can mean a neon gem green to one supplier and a near-black forest shade to another. This guide pins down which emerald you mean, gives eight emerald palettes with hex codes, a per-role table for your entourage, a table that separates emerald from forest, jade and olive, and a way to show the motif on a digital invitation. You can copy the palettes and the swatch steps as they are.

What emerald green is, and what it suits

Wikipedia's Shades of green page describes emerald as "a tone of green that is particularly light and bright, with a faint bluish cast." Wedding emerald is usually deeper than that. Ann's Bridal Bargains, a bridal retailer, calls it bold and says it suits "jewel-toned winter weddings, art deco vibes, or black-tie events." Inside Weddings says the shade works best for colder-weather winter celebrations, but with lighter florals, linens and drapery it can suit a spring or summer wedding too.

The Philippines has no winter, so the advice that matters is the second half: keep the surfaces light and let emerald be the accent.

SettingWhy emerald fitsCheck (our advice)

Church, then receptionFormal and quiet, with a clear gold partnerLook at it in the church's own light
Garden, daytimeEchoes the greenery around youKeep linens and florals light so it does not feel heavy

Two real Philippine emerald weddings

Bride and Breakfast, a Philippine wedding blog, has two emerald features. Neither says what the barongs looked like, so this is the colors-only evidence.

WeddingWhat the feature says
Emerald, white and gold, 2020Bridesmaids in "clean cut, emerald green dresses"; groom in an olive green suit; groomsmen's neckties match the bridal party; white and gold balance it
The emerald hue, 2022Emerald as main motif on entourage attire and the cake, repeated in the invitation suite and the bride's shoes; abundant greenery, cactus centerpieces

Both put emerald on the entourage. The first balances it with white and gold, and the second repeats it in small details.

8 emerald green palettes with hex codes

These combinations and hex codes are our own examples, not a paint brand's. Screens shift color, so brief people with the code and confirm with a fabric swatch. Order is dominant, secondary, accent, neutral. All use our deep emerald, #0F6B4F. The "Suits" and "Watch out" columns are our advice, not sourced rules.

Ann's Bridal Bargains lists four emerald pairings: gold and black, burgundy and champagne, navy and silver, and white and blush. Those four correspond to rows 5, 3, 4 and 2 above, with our hex codes. ChicSew, a bridal fashion retailer, says light emerald goes with blush pink, ivory or lavender, and dark emerald with navy, deep plum and burgundy. For choosing from scratch, see our wedding colors guide. If a softer green is also on your shortlist, our sage green wedding motif guide covers sage, and the dusty blue wedding motif guide covers the cool partner in row 7. For the burgundy pairing, our burgundy and maroon wedding motif guide covers dark reds.

Emerald vs forest, jade, olive and sage

Say the hex code, not only the name. Hex values for the named shades come from Wikipedia's Shades of green. The sources disagree on emerald itself, so the table shows every version we found.

Who wears what: emerald by entourage role

Rows follow the groups in Imbitasyon Ko's entourage editor, with its role names. Sources are named per row, and the rest is our suggestion.

Nuptials.ph says that "the ninangs should not wear the color motif of the bridesmaids and flower girls" (primary and secondary sponsors). Casa Barong's outfit guide says parents should look "aligned with the wedding's colour palette without overshadowing the couple" and that bridesmaids can wear coordinated dresses "in the same shade or fabric." In the 2020 Bride and Breakfast wedding, groomsmen wore neckties in the bridal party's color. Full rules and fabric prices are in our entourage attire guide.

Emerald with a barong or Filipiniana

A barong arrives with its own color. Heritage Barong says piña "exhibits a yellowish or light champagne-gold hue" and jusi's natural color is off-white. Casa Barong says the most common wedding barong colours are ivory, cream, beige, champagne, light grey and soft neutral tones. Deep green beside those warm neutrals is a contrast, which is why we think it works (our judgement). The only Philippine example we found with a groom in green put him in an olive green suit, not a barong.

OptionHow it worksOur take
Plain barong, emerald accentsEmerald on ties, pocket squares, boutonnieresSafest for a mixed group
Barong with emerald dressesWomen in emerald, men in barongsSame idea as the 2020 feature, with a barong in place of the suit
Emerald-toned FilipinianaA terno or Maria Clara gown in emeraldTest sleeves and fabric weight first

Most palettes above carry a gold accent, which gives the barong's warm tones something to echo (our advice). The Filipiniana theme guide covers the wider palette.

Flowers, greenery and decor for emerald

Ann's Bridal Bargains says green hues look good beside "neutral-toned florals like white hydrangeas, cream roses, or baby's breath." Bride and Breakfast's 2022 wedding surrounded its emerald with sprigs and plants as table scapes and ceiling installations, plus cactus in the centerpieces for texture. Inside Weddings pairs the deep color with lighter florals, linens and drapery. We make no claims about what is in stock or how much it costs on your date, so ask your florist.

Inside Weddings says lighter florals, linens and drapery let the deep color suit spring or summer, so a light base with emerald accents is the safest start.

Fabric and metal change how emerald reads. These rows are our advice, not sourced rules.

MaterialHow emerald reads
GoldWarm and rich beside emerald
SilverCooler and more modern
VelvetDeep and rich; hot in daytime heat
SatinBrighter and shinier
ChiffonLighter and softer; test layers

The same dye can look like three shades on three fabrics, so match fabrics before you match colors. Outdoor heat and timing are covered in our garden wedding guide.

Testing emerald in dim and bright light

Deep green can look black in a dim room and flat outdoors, so test it twice. These steps are our advice, not a rule.

  1. Order a physical swatch of the actual fabric, or borrow a dress.
  2. Photograph it outdoors at ceremony time, where the wedding party will stand.
  3. Photograph it inside the ceremony venue with its lights on.
  4. Photograph it beside the barong swatch and a cream swatch for the ninang.
  5. If it looks black indoors, go one step lighter or add a metal accent.
  6. If it looks neon outdoors, go one step deeper.
  7. Fix the shade as a hex code and send the same photo to every supplier.

Judge it on several bridesmaids together, not one, because a single dress reads differently from a group.

Show the emerald motif on the invitation

Imbitasyon Ko has no theme named emerald, and each theme's palette is fixed. These are the nearest green and gold themes, from their own palettes and descriptions.

Boho OliveRustic & BohoGreen neighbour, not emerald: calm olive green

You can browse all themes and filter by the Green color family. The page uses the theme, and the motif goes in the editor's Dress Code & Motif section: up to six colors from presets or a custom color. The presets are Sage, Dusty rose, Champagne, Navy, Terracotta and Emerald. The Emerald preset is #50C878, a lighter and fresher green than the deep #0F6B4F in our palettes, so for the deep shade add a custom color. Whenever you add swatches, the invitation prints "We would be delighted to see you in our motif colors" above them, so do not repeat it in your note.

Say what you want guests to do, because swatches alone do not. These are plain dress code notes for you to adapt. Use the first one with swatches; it adds the neutral option to the printed line rather than repeating it:

Our motif is emerald green, gold and ivory. Please wear it or any soft neutral.

Use the second one only if you add no swatches, because with swatches the invitation already asks guests to wear your motif colors:

Our emerald and gold belong to the wedding party. Please wear another color.

For fuller wording, see our dress code guide.

Lock the emerald before anyone shops

Bride and Breakfast says: "It is ideal to keep your colors limited to two to three colors only". Pick two or three colors, add one metal such as gold, treat the barong's warm off-white as your neutral, give principal sponsors cream rather than emerald, and fix the shade as a hex code before the entourage buys. Then choose a matching invitation theme so the page and the people agree.

Frequently asked questions

What colors go with emerald green for a wedding?

Gold, white, blush, champagne, burgundy, navy, silver and black all work. Ann's Bridal Bargains lists emerald with gold and black, burgundy and champagne, navy and silver, and white and blush. Our palette table gives hex codes for eight combinations.

What is the hex code for emerald green?

It depends on the source. Wikipedia's Shades of green page lists emerald as #00FF60, a vivid yellowish green. Imbitasyon Ko's editor swatch is #50C878, and our deeper wedding example is #0F6B4F. Pick one code and send it with a fabric swatch.

Can ninangs wear emerald green if the bridesmaids do?

Nuptials.ph says ninangs should not wear the color motif of the bridesmaids and flower girls, and recommends cream or off-white gowns. So with an emerald motif, give principal sponsor women cream or off-white and keep emerald for the wedding party.

Does emerald green go with a barong?

In our judgement, yes. Heritage Barong says piña has a yellowish or light champagne-gold hue and jusi's natural color is off-white, and emerald with gold sits well beside both. A Bride and Breakfast emerald wedding had the groom in an olive green suit instead, so swatch it first.

Is emerald green only for winter weddings?

Inside Weddings says the shade works best for colder-weather winter celebrations, but that lighter florals, linens and drapery make it a romantic fit for spring or summer. The Philippines has no winter, so lean on light linens and test it in your venue's own light.

How many colors should an emerald green motif have?

Two or three. Bride and Breakfast's How To Choose Wedding Colors article says it is ideal to keep your colors limited to two to three colors only. With emerald, add one metal or neutral such as gold or ivory and let the barong supply the rest.

How do I show an emerald green motif on a digital invitation?

On Imbitasyon Ko the Dress Code & Motif section has an Emerald preset swatch, #50C878, and you can add up to six motif colors. For a deeper emerald, add a custom color. No theme is named emerald, so pick a theme such as Piña Verde for the page itself.
