How to Choose a Wedding Invitation Theme: 30 Themes Compared

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Quick answer

Pick the theme that matches your venue first, then your formality and your photo colors. Imbitasyon Ko has 30 themes in 6 categories: each has one free theme, and the other 24 need Standard (₱499, one-time) to publish. You can design with any theme and switch later without losing content.

Most advice on this topic is written for printed cards. A digital theme is different: guests read it on a phone, in daylight, on a mid-range screen. This guide picks by venue, formality and photo, lists all 30 Imbitasyon Ko themes by category with the free ones in detail, and shows how to test a theme with your real names before you publish.

Choose in this order

  1. Venue. Our advice is to start here. Zola lists it first among its considerations, noting that "your venue may dictate the type of stationery suite".
  2. Formality. A black-tie dress code and a laid-back garden lunch should not share a card style.
  3. Cover photo. The theme's background and accent sit next to your photo, so check they do not fight it.
  4. Motif colors. They are a smaller decision than the theme: you can list up to six in the dress code section, where the invitation shows them as color dots, so the theme does not have to copy them. See wedding motif colors, and wedding theme ideas if you are still choosing the wedding's own theme.

Match your venue to a category

The categories are Imbitasyon Ko's own. The first column is our reading of each theme's description.

Every category has one free theme. The rest are Standard themes; Premium includes the same 30. Tone and color follow the sort the themes page filters use, worked out from each theme's colors, so check the live filter if a theme sits on the border.

Three of the six pair a warm off-white with a gold or brown accent. Boracay Sands (blue accent), Garden Blush (pink) and Minimal Ivory (near-black accent) change the mood most.

Light or dark?

Six themes have a dark background: Evening Mass, Boho Ember, El Nido Lagoon, Moonlit Tide, Terno Maroon and Minimal Midnight. All six are Standard themes. The other 24 are light, including all six free ones. Two descriptions mention time of day: Evening Mass is written for an evening church wedding with a ballroom reception, and Minimal Midnight for an evening celebration. Our advice: keep dark themes for evening or formal weddings, use a light theme for a daytime wedding, and test a dark one on a phone at full brightness before publishing.

Test a theme in 15 minutes

  1. Enter both nicknames on the builder's first screen. It shows only the free themes at first; tap "Show all 30 themes" to see the rest.
  2. Pick two or three and open each live demo from the themes page.
  3. Look at your longest venue name and your longest guest name, not the sample text.
  4. Check it on your own phone, then on a relative's older phone if you can.
  5. Ask one person who has not seen it to say what kind of wedding it looks like. If the answer matches yours, keep it.

The editor's theme step has an AI Theme Suggestions button that picks three themes from your cover or couple photo; it asks you to upload one first. The button shows on every plan, but AI assist is available on the Standard and Premium plans, so on Free it shows a locked message instead. The theme picker can also be filtered by color and by style, meaning the six categories.

Free or Standard?

The builder says: "You can design with any theme. Standard themes need a Standard plan or higher when you publish." So you can finish the whole invitation in a Standard theme and decide afterwards. Switching themes later keeps your text, photos, guest list and wishes; the site's own theme FAQ says so. If a paid theme is selected on a Free invitation, the editor blocks publishing with "This theme needs a paid plan. Upgrade, or pick a free theme first to publish." Standard costs ₱499 and Premium ₱999, both one-time per invitation, and both include all 30 themes. The other differences are on the pricing page and in free digital wedding invitation limits.

Choose for the venue, confirm with your real names on a phone, and switch later if it does not feel right; nothing else in the invitation changes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a wedding invitation theme?

Start with the venue, because a church, a beach and a garden each suggest a different look. Then match the formality of your dress code, and check that the colors work with your cover photo. Preview the finished invitation with your real names before you commit.

Does the invitation theme have to match my wedding theme?

It should feel like the same wedding, but it does not have to copy every color. Matching the venue and the formality matters more than matching your motif exactly. You can list up to six motif colors in the dress code section, so the theme does not have to copy them.

How many wedding invitation themes does Imbitasyon Ko have?

There are 30 themes in 6 categories: Catholic Elegant, Rustic & Boho, Beach & Destination, Filipiniana, Garden Floral and Modern Minimal. Each category has one free theme, so Free has 6, and Standard and Premium both include all 30.

Which wedding invitation themes are free?

Six: Ivory & Gold, Boho Kraft, Boracay Sands, Sampaguita, Garden Blush and Minimal Ivory. You can design with a paid theme on Free, but publishing needs a free theme or the Standard plan.

Can I change my invitation theme after I create it?

Yes. You can switch themes from the editor at any time, and your text, photos and guest list stay as they are.

Should I use a dark wedding invitation theme?

Six of the 30 themes have a dark background: Evening Mass, Boho Ember, El Nido Lagoon, Moonlit Tide, Terno Maroon and Minimal Midnight. All six are Standard themes. Our advice is to keep dark themes for evening or formal weddings and test them on a phone first.
