Wedding Missalette and Program Booklet Contents, Page by Page

Quick answer
A Philippine wedding missalette usually has a cover, the order of service with parish-approved texts, the readings and music, and the entourage; a back page for a thank-you is optional. The parish supplies the liturgical text, and the Archdiocese of Palo says a missalette is not required.
You are about to send a file to a printer and need to know what goes on each page. Two things make this harder in the Philippines than generic checklists suggest: most of the wording is not yours to write, and the entourage page is longer than any Western wedding party list.
Here: whether you need a missalette at all, what goes on each page and who supplies it, the entourage page, five copy-ready lines for the parts you write, format, quantity, cost, timing, and which pages can move onto a digital invitation.

What a missalette is, and whether you need one
Kasal.com's article on the missalette says "the missalette is simply the wedding program," containing "the names of the bridal entourage and parts of the wedding ceremony, like the liturgy, the prayers, the exchange of wedding vows, etc." It tells you to "ask the church or parish where you are getting married for a sample copy."
It is optional. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palo's wedding guidelines say "A missalette is not a requirement for church weddings," and note that parish churches already have the formulary for the wedding Mass. They set limits for couples who print one anyway:
| Palo guideline | What it means for your booklet |
|---|---|
| It "may not include the entire Mass formulary" | Do not reprint the whole Mass |
| It should contain the songs used at Mass | List the music titles |
| It should contain the readings, "especially those chosen by the couple" | Print the readings you picked |
| It should contain the nuptial rite itself | Use the parish's text for the rite |
That is one archdiocese. Ask your parish for its rules along with its sample file.
The parish file follows the parts of the rite. These are the part names used in our Catholic ceremony order guide, with the music slots that fall in each, so you can see where the song titles go. Names only: the texts come from the parish.
| Part of the ceremony | Music that falls in it |
|---|---|
| Introductory Rites | Entourage processional and bridal march |
| Liturgy of the Word | Responsorial psalm, which may be sung |
| Celebration of Matrimony | A soft instrumental during the vows; an optional hymn after the rings |
| Liturgy of the Eucharist | Offertory and communion songs |
| Conclusion | Recessional; one provider plays a pictorial set just before it |
What goes on each page
At least one Philippine printer assumes the text comes from the church. Ink Scribbler's missalette listing asks clients to "send us the doc file from your church," because "churches or priests have their own preference of wording." Get that file before you design anything: it decides your page count.
Abundant Invitations' types of wedding programs describes a booklet as a cover plus "4 inner pages," "tied together with your choice of ribbon." Paperlust's ceremony program guide sums up what to include as "Order of service, wedding party list, readings and music, and a personal thank-you note." Which page carries what below is our recommendation, not theirs.
| Page | What sits on it | Who supplies the wording |
|---|---|---|
| Cover | Your first names, date, church; optional monogram | You |
| Inner page 1 | The order of service, with responses if the parish prints them | The parish file |
| Inner page 2 | Order of service continued, or the nuptial rite | The parish file |
| Inner page 3 | Readings and music: titles, references, readers, singers | Parish texts, your credits |
| Inner page 4 | The entourage, grouped and named | You |
| Back (our addition) | Traditions note, thank-you, memorial | You |
Never type the order of service from memory or a blog: if a response is printed wrongly, the whole church reads it that way. Our Catholic ceremony order guide is there to check the parish file against, not to replace it. Music titles for page 3 come from the list you send the parish; our ceremony music guide covers the slots.
The entourage page
Start from Filipino roles, not a Western wedding-party template: sponsors and bearers need their own rows. There is no single official grouping; below is the one Imbitasyon Ko uses, which you can copy onto a printed page:
| Group heading | Roles listed under it |
|---|---|
| Our Beloved Parents | Parents of the Groom, Parents of the Bride |
| Principal Sponsors | Principal Sponsors, listed as pairs |
| Best Man & Maid of Honor | Best Man, Maid of Honor |
| Secondary Sponsors | Candle Sponsors, Veil Sponsors, Cord Sponsors |
| Groomsmen & Bridesmaids | Groomsmen, Bridesmaids |
| Bearers | Ring Bearer, Coin Bearer, Bible Bearer |
| Flower Girls | Flower Girls |
| Entourage | Any role you add yourself |
The entourage list tool outputs that grouping as plain text, which is what a printer wants. Who does what is in our entourage duties guide.
Five lines you write yourself
None of this is liturgical text. Adapt every word.

Traditions note, for guests seeing the rituals for the first time:
During the ceremony you will see four Filipino traditions: the candle, the veil, the cord and the coins. Our Candle, Veil and Cord Sponsors and our Coin Bearer are named on the previous page.
Thank-you, short and long:
Thank you for being here today. Whatever this day becomes in our memory, you are in it.
Thank you for the years of advice, the long drives and the prayers that brought us to this aisle.
Memorial:
In loving memory of the late Mr. Juan Dela Cruz, whose seat we keep for him today.
Keep the traditions note descriptive. What guests will see is yours to write; what each rite means belongs to the homily and the parish.
Pick the format, because it fixes what fits
Sizes and panel counts come from Abundant Invitations and the Paperlust guide.
| Format | Size | Surfaces | What it forces you to cut |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat | 3.875"x9.25" or 5.5"x8.5"; Paperlust lists 4"x9" | Front and back | Notes "have to be kept short depending on how large your wedding party is" |
| Folded | 5.5"x8.5"; Paperlust: "Most popular format; easy to hold" | 4 panels | Little |
| Tri-fold | 3.5"x8.5" per panel | "6 panels total" | Little; for "Longer ceremonies with lots of content" |
| Booklet | 4.25"x5.5" per Abundant; Ink Scribbler's missalette is A5 | Cover plus 4 inner pages | Nothing |
If the parish order of service runs past one page, flat is out.
What to cut when space runs out
The Budget Savvy Bride's skip list applies where couples "print all of the details onto a single card." Paperlust's include list assumes the room a booklet gives you.
| Item | On a single card | In a booklet |
|---|---|---|
| Processional and recessional names | On the skip list | The entourage page |
| Song titles | On the skip list | "Include the names of songs and hymns" (Paperlust) |
| Full text of readings | On the skip list | Palo: include the readings |
| Reception venue details | On the skip list | Optional note on the back |
How many to print, and what it costs
| Figure | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | "At least half the number of the invited guests" | Kasal.com, citing Rita M. Neri (1998) |
| Alternative quantity | 10-15% more than your guest count | Paperlust |
| Must have a copy | The priest or solemnizing officer, the couple, the entourage | Kasal.com |
| Price | ₱85.00 per booklet, minimum order of 20 | Ink Scribbler |
| Extras | Layout Fee and Rush Fee as separate options, each ₱500.00; rush applies to weddings in 2 weeks or less; a fee to see the layout first | Ink Scribbler |
| Lead time | 2 to 2.5 weeks for layout and printing; one more week for layout approval | Ink Scribbler |
| Wording deadline | Finalize 4-6 weeks before the wedding | Paperlust |
Our arithmetic, not a quoted number: 200 guests at the half rule is 100 booklets, or ₱8,500 at that per-piece price, plus the ₱500 Layout Fee, so about ₱9,000 before any rush or approval fee. Ink Scribbler also says it does no proofreading, so check every name yourself.
Count backwards:
- Ask the parish for its sample file and rules. Until you have it, you cannot choose a format.
- Lock the entourage names. They are the slowest thing to collect and the worst to misspell.
- Choose quantity and format together, using one of the two quantity rules above.
- Send the file four to six weeks out, leaving two to two and a half weeks for printing and a week for layout approval.
Which pages move to a digital invitation
The order of service stays on paper: the missalette "encourages the people present to participate in the wedding ceremony," as Kasal.com puts it. What guests read before they sit down moves over.
| Booklet page | On a digital invitation |
|---|---|
| Cover | Opening and couple sections |
| Order of service | Keep on paper |
| Entourage | Entourage section, same groups in the same order |
| Traditions note | A short line near the event details |
| Dress code, map | Events and dress code sections |
| Thank-you | Closing message |
Two product details: the public invitation shows the entourage as group headings and names only, with role labels appearing in the entourage list tool instead; and the free plan shows the first ten entourage entries, so a full Filipino list needs Standard (₱499) or Premium (₱999), both one-time. Whether to print at all is covered in digital versus printed invitations.
Put the call time, venue pin, dress code and entourage on the invitation where guests check them the week before, and let the booklet do only what the parish file needs it to.
Frequently asked questions
What is a missalette in a wedding?
It is the printed wedding program. Kasal.com calls it simply the wedding program and says it usually holds the names of the entourage and the parts of the ceremony, such as the liturgy, the prayers and the exchange of vows, so guests can follow and take part.
Is a missalette required for a Catholic wedding?
No. The Archdiocese of Palo says a missalette is not a requirement for church weddings. If a couple prints one, it may not include the entire Mass formulary, but it should contain at least the songs used at Mass, the readings and the nuptial rite.
What should be included in a wedding program?
A cover with your names, date and church; the order of service; the readings and music; the entourage grouped by role; and a back page for a traditions note, thank-you or memorial. Paperlust lists the order of service, wedding party, readings and music, and a thank-you note as the core.
How many wedding missalettes should we print?
Sources disagree. Kasal.com, citing Rita Neri's wedding workbook, says at least half the number of invited guests. Paperlust, writing for other markets, says 10 to 15 percent more than your guest count. Make sure the priest, the couple and the entourage get copies.
How much does a wedding missalette cost in the Philippines?
One Philippine printer, Ink Scribbler, lists A5 missalettes at 85 pesos each with a minimum order of 20, with layout, rush and layout-approval fees on top. Its lead time for layout and printing is two to two and a half weeks.
Who writes the text of the wedding missalette?
The parish. Printers ask for the document file from your church because, in Ink Scribbler's words, churches or priests have their own preference of wording. You write only the cover, the entourage list, and any traditions note, thank-you or memorial.
