Prenup Shoot Philippines: Locations, Outfits, Cost & Tips
Wednesday, July 8, 2026
Quick answer
A prenup shoot is a pre-wedding photo session with two or three outfit changes, whose photos go on your invitation and at the reception. Nuptials.ph's two guides differ on cost: ₱10,000 to ₱50,000 or more for the whole shoot in one, ₱20,000 to ₱100,000 or more for the team alone in the other. Get written quotes.
A prenup shoot is the pre-wedding photo session Filipino couples book months before the wedding. It is looser than the wedding day, but it still needs a location, permit, outfits and a photographer who knows what you want. Get those right and you have photos for your invitation, your reception displays and your albums. Get them wrong and you spend the morning arguing in a car park.
(Looking for the legal document instead? That is a marriage settlement. See the guide to the prenuptial agreement in the Philippines.)
Prenup shoot timeline: when to book and what to do
These weeks are our planning estimates, not published figures. Work backwards from your invitations. Per our invitation timing guide, they go out 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding if you sent a save-the-date, and about 12 weeks before if you did not. If a prenup photo goes on the invitation, it has to be edited by then. Avoid the last two weeks, when alterations and rain delays have no room to move.
| Weeks before the wedding | Do this |
|---|---|
| 22 to 24 | Choose a theme, gather a mood board, shortlist photographers (how to choose vendors) |
| 20 | Book the photographer, pick two candidate locations, ask each for permit rules |
| 18 | Confirm the date and a backup date; apply for any permit |
| 14 to 16 | Shoot. This leaves 2 to 4 weeks to edit before invitations go out at about 12 weeks |
| 12 | Choose finals, send the photo to your invitation designer or upload it to your gallery |
| 2 | Print or frame the pieces for the reception |
Save-the-dates go out much earlier, 6 to 8 months ahead for local guests, so a prenup photo on them means shooting earlier and shifting every row back. A save-the-date without a photo avoids that.
Weather is the usual reason a date fails. The rainy season and typhoon rules in our rainy-season backup plan apply to a beach or garden shoot just as much as to the wedding, so name a second date now.

Two of these guides also mention a permit. Out of Town Blog says Intramuros requires a non-commercial shoot permit and that only six exclusive locations there are open for pre-wedding shoots, and that BGC needs a permit from Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation. Nuptials.ph gives these figures, with no date on them:
| Place | Fee and conditions listed by Nuptials.ph |
|---|---|
| BGC | ₱2,000 |
| UP Diliman | ₱2,500 for outsiders; free for alumni |
| Intramuros | ₱6,000 regular plus ₱1,500 for each additional hour; hours listed as 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. only |
Treat these as a checklist of what to ask, not as current prices. A private garden venue sets its own package.
What to wear to a prenup shoot
Nuptials.ph suggests preparing two to three looks: a casual one, a dressier one and one that fits your theme. Coordinate, do not match exactly.
| Backdrop | Fabrics and colours to try | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Beach or island | Light cotton or linen in soft colours | Wind and wet hems; bring a change |
| Garden or forest | Earth tones, greens, soft prints | Heels that sink into grass |
| Heritage streets | Filipiniana-inspired or vintage looks (Filipiniana wedding theme) | Heat; stone paths |
| City and street | Tailored, minimal pieces | Busy signage behind you |
| Studio | Bolder colours or patterns | Reflective fabrics under flash |
| Everyday date look | Your usual style | Stains; pack a lint roller |
Try every outfit together at least a week before, when there is still time to fix the fit.
18 prenup shoot props and 12 shot ideas
Props help hands look natural. Choose two or three and leave the rest at home.
Balloons
Bicycles
Sparklers (check if the venue allows them)
Umbrella
Polaroid or instant camera
Handwritten cards or love letters
Picnic blanket and basket
Vintage suitcase
Flowers or a bouquet
Fairy lights
Framed photo of your first date
Coffee cups or takeaway food from your favourite place
Wooden chairs or a small table
Straw hats

Your pets
Ask your photographer to cover these moments so you are not just standing and smiling:
1. Walking hand in hand, away from the camera
2. Foreheads touching, eyes closed
3. Laughing at something off camera
4. One of you spinning the other
5. Close-up of hands or rings
6. Reading each other a short note
7. Sitting on steps or a bench, talking
8. Piggyback or a lift
9. Dancing to a song you both like
10. Silhouette at sunset
11. A kiss on the cheek while looking at the lens
12. Walking through the location with no pose at all
Prenup shoot cost in the Philippines
Two Nuptials.ph guides give different ranges. The planning guide and the budget guide do not agree, and the gap shows how much depends on the team you choose.
| Cost item | Planning guide | Budget guide |
|---|---|---|
| Photo and video team | ₱20,000 to ₱100,000+ | ₱8,000 to ₱30,000+ |
| Location fees and permits | ₱2,000 to ₱20,000 | ₱0 to ₱10,000 |
| Outfits and styling | ₱3,000 to ₱10,000 | ₱1,000 to ₱10,000 (outfits and accessories) |
| Hair and makeup | Not listed separately | ₱1,000 to ₱5,000 |
| Props and concept | ₱500 to ₱5,000 | ₱500 to ₱5,000 |
| Transport and food | ₱2,000 to ₱5,000 | Not listed |
| Whole shoot | Add up the rows above | ₱10,000 to ₱50,000 or more |
The budget guide's savings tips are worth using: mix outfits you own with rentals, limit the number of outfit and location changes, and put most of the money into the photographer.
Briefing your photographer
Send the mood board, locations and outfit plan a week before the shoot. Then ask:
1. What style do you shoot, and can I see a full gallery from one shoot?
2. How long is the session, and what happens if we run over?
3. How many outfit changes fit in it?
4. How many edited photos will we receive, and by what date?
5. Do you handle the location permit, or do we?
6. Is hair and makeup included?
7. Do we get the unedited files?
8. Can we reschedule for weather, and is there a fee?
9. Can we use the photos on our invitation and social media?
10. How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
On the day: light, comfort and small things
- Golden hour is the hour or so after sunrise and before sunset, and gives the softest light. At midday, look for shade or move indoors.
- Overcast days are easier than most couples expect, because the clouds soften the light on faces.
- Buffer time between locations covers traffic and rain.
- Pack a small bag: lint roller, safety pins, blotting paper, hair ties, water and snacks.
- Sleep and drink water. Tired eyes and a hungry couple both show on camera.
- Trust your photographer's direction. Some of the best frames are the in-between ones.
Using the photos afterwards
Do not leave the edited photos in a folder. Use the strongest one for your invitation and the rest for your reception displays. In the Imbitasyon Ko invitation the gallery holds two photos on the Free plan, 15 on Standard and 30 on Premium, so pick your favourites early (see plans). To gather guests' photos after the wedding, see how to share wedding photos with guests, and pair your shots with wedding photo caption ideas.
The order that saves the most trouble: pick the theme, check the permit rules for two locations, book the photographer, set a backup date for rain, and try your outfits on together a week before.
Frequently asked questions
What is a prenup shoot?
A prenup shoot is the pre-wedding photo session Filipino couples book months before the wedding. The photos are used on invitations, reception displays and albums.
How much does a prenup shoot cost in the Philippines?
Nuptials.ph's two guides disagree: ₱10,000 to ₱50,000 or more for the whole shoot in one, and ₱20,000 to ₱100,000 or more for the photo and video team alone in the other. Location fees and permits, outfits, props, makeup and transport come on top of the team, so ask for a written quote.
How many outfits should you bring to a prenup shoot?
Nuptials.ph suggests preparing two to three looks, such as a casual one, a dressier one and a themed one. Coordinate colours rather than matching exactly, and try everything on together a week before.
When should you do a prenup shoot before the wedding?
Our planning estimate is 14 to 16 weeks before the wedding, so the photos are edited in time for invitations sent about 12 weeks out and there is time for a backup date. Avoid the last two weeks, when alterations and rain delays have no room.
Do you need a permit for a prenup shoot?
Some places do. Sources list a permit for Intramuros and for Bonifacio Global City, and Nuptials.ph lists fees for BGC, UP Diliman and Intramuros. Ask the venue or your photographer in writing, because fees and hours change.
What is the best time of day for a prenup shoot?
Golden hour, the hour after sunrise or before sunset, gives the softest light. If you can only shoot at midday, choose shade or an indoor location and leave buffer time between spots.
